Yes, contemporary posters are starting to look like broadsheets. Which is what some students at ArtCenter is slowly migrating to. Its the conversion between condensing most A7 publications, and the evolution of the POSTER. I know this is a small idea, but it could be the way this “culture” is going. I have recently designed a broadsheet for a subversive publication called “BRIDExPRESS”. Using grids that are typically found in posters, and applying them in a broadsheet format. It creates interesting structures that are not really suitable for posters that are meant to be read 20-50 feet away, although it creates appeal that these “posters” are also meant to be read up close. It invites the viewer from long- distance, into short-distance.
